Back in the Swing

It don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that swing. Me, I feel like I’m starting to get it. Maybe this time if there’s a bump in the road I’ll be able to stay on the wagon…

Today I upped it to 2 miles. My shins kind of hurt (I’ll stretch them out throughout the day today) but other than that it was a great workout. 22:02. Nice!

Jogging with Mike

Wow. I had about the coolest jog today, ’cause my roommate and best friend, Mike, came with me. He’s been in “the Iraq” for four months and just came home yesterday. I always wondered if jogging with a buddy would be difficult, especially ’cause I didn’t know if anyone would want to do my intervals with me…. We did 1.4 miles, 2-1, and made 15:55.

Lost Track of Time

Well, I hit the wrong button on my stopwatch this morning and now I have no idea how my time was for jogging this morning. It was my normal 1.4 mile, 2-1 interval jog, and it felt like I was going OK. Yet when I went to hit STOP, I hit LAP instead, and I can’t figure out how to make this damn watch bring-up Lap 1. Oh well…

Seven Days

Forgive me, it’s been seven days since my last exercise…

Actually, I changed the name from “Jogging Journal” to “Exercise Journal” because I was going to write in all the different exercise-related things I was doing. Even when it’s just walking around Animal Kingdom with my grandmother. Yet, alas, I haven’t been doing that. It’s not actually that I haven’t done any exercise, but I haven’t gotten up or come home from work, put on my jogging shorts, and started my interval timer…

Today I did 1.6 miles (I decided to up it, even though it was hard) and did my 2-1 intervals in 15:55, which isn’t horrible, really. The other day I saw a commercial for New Balance that kind of summed-up my jogging “program.” Their new campaign is love/hate. The commercial is all about each time you set out to go jogging you have this love/hate feeling about it. I’m totally there. The beginning is mostly hate, the end is mostly love. Do you think the ends justify the means?

A Little “Cool-Down”

Today was another 1.4 mile day, and I did 12:57. I specifically kept my jogging pace a little slower and tried (I guess unsuccessfully) to keep my walking pace fast. Yet yesterday was a little faster overall. Oh well, it’s not a race. (Inside my head I keep hearing, “it’s always a race, and you can win!”)

I’m still on my 2-1 intervals, and today I did a 0.4 mile “cool down” walk afterwards. Every time I get back to the house I always have to wait a bit to cool down, otherwise a shower is kind of pointless (’cause I’m still hot when the shower is over.) Well, the walking cool-down didn’t work today. It may have something to do with the fact that the temperature, which at 9:30 a.m. is already 77 degrees. Or it could just be that I got 22:07 of exercise…
